CONTENT
THE GAME
CONTENT is a single player serious game exploring the experience of a Handler/Fixer/Producer of misinformation. They manage a number of journalists, influencers and other content creators in order to meet misinformation goals set by a shady boss.
The game is loosely inspired by the amazing work of investigation by Rafael Olavarria & Factchequeado - many thanks and much respect to them! We don’t recreate the actors, agents or institutions involved in the articles nor aim to recreate the exact dynamics. What we aim to achieve is to highlight that the content consumed by many around the world is part of a production line where at different levels, agendas of power and influence shape these messages, distort truth and are used to undermine democracies, undermine trust in fundamental societal institutions and undo much that keeps people safe.
HOW TO PLAY
- This wasn't designed for tiny screens - use a laptop or desktop.
- The game has 5 rounds (5 weeks). Play until you reach the end of Week 5.
- Game duration: 10-15 minutes.
THE BIG PICTURE
We've been thinking for a while about making a strategy game that explores the global networks of misinformation: the writers, the incentives, the narratives, the bots. Thanks to the organisers of the 2026 Investigative Journalism Game Jam, we got our act together and made this demo version. The "big picture" of what this strategy game could be is described in this Game Design Document
THE TEAM
- Game design, game content: Dan Marshall
- Artwork, programming: Diana Onu
We have been working as a team on mobile and web apps for more than 12 years, making software for research and education in our small company, PsyNovigo. In the last few years, we've included more and more gamification features in many of our apps, which proved to be loads of fun to work on! Looking to the future, we plan to focus more on serious and educational games.
